About me

Ken Harper is a native San Franciscan specializing in Macanese food. i.e., the food from the former Portuguese colony of Macao in China. Macanese food exists only in the households of people of Macanese heritage and incorporates the culinary traditions from all over the worlds where the Portuguese empire extended : Africa -Mozambique, Angola, Asia - India, Malaysia, China, Japan, South America - Brazil. Ken learned to cook from his grandmother and her sisters and derives his recipes from his great-grandmother who owned and operated a Bakery, Teashop and restaurant in Hong Kong. Ken also incorporates his other culinary interests in Italian, Chinese & California-American cuisine to develop new creations.
